Say hello to Doireann and Ian! They tied the knot on Valentine’s Week and opted for a blush and burgundy colour scheme to match. Their goal was to plan a fun wedding and they did just that!

Doireann and Ian met in their partying days in a pub in Athlone and got engaged during Covid times.
Doireann says, “All we could do was go for a walk. We walked through town late December to look at the Christmas lights.When we got home I went for shower and to get changed into a pair of PJs. When I walked back into the sitting room my now husband and 4 year old son were on one knee.”
To embrace the festivities of Valentine’s Week, they went with a blush and burgundy colour scheme.
“All I wanted for my wedding was it to be fun. With two small kids I didnt care for the big show. I wanted it to be an intimate affair with friends and family and just have a lot of fun.”
Doireann went into the bridal store wanting lace and sleeves. and as you can see from the pictures, she came out with the total opposite! Ian wanted something that he would look back on in 20 years and still like. So a Black Tux was perfect for that!
“Our ceremony was just perfect. It was so family orientated and intimate. My gorgeous son Fionn walked me down the aisle and my brother sang me down the aisle. My brother Cian is a gifted singer and he provided the music for the ceremony. Let me tell you there were tears shed. I love to write poems. I actually surprised my husband and read out a poem I wrote him during our ceremony which was so special.”
“We chose the Shamrock Lodge as our wedding venue and it was the best decision we ever made. We both grew up in Athlone having Communions, Confirmations etc in the Shamrock Lodge. As we have a young family we wanted a venue that were family run and basically friendly. The staff at the Shamrock Lodge couldn’t have done more for us all leading up to and on our special day.”

“He had us all feel so comfortable on the day. He got some amazing shots that I will treasure for as long as I live. Some of these shots taken without us even knowing!”
To entertain their guests, they hired Blessed Irish Band, who were able to keep the dance floor full from the minute they started until the minute they finished.
Doireann says, “They were one of my favourite things about my wedding actually.”
When asked about their favourite memory from the Big Day:
“As cheesy as it sounds, the whole day was amazing from start to finish.”
We always ask newlyweds for their best wedding advice. This is what Doireann and Ian said:
“Relax, everything works out on the day. JUST ENJOY IT!”
